How Boshworks handles personal data, in plain English. What we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the rights you have. We designed the whole service so your data stays with you — this policy explains the parts we do touch.
This policy explains how Boshworks collects and uses personal data. It covers people who visit our website, enquire about the service, and become customers. The core idea behind Boshworks is that your business runs on your own machine and under your own accounts, so we hold far less of your data than a typical service would. Where we do handle personal data, this is how and why.
Boshworks is a service supplied by a UK sole trader trading as "Boshworks", operating under the mono hub (themonohub), based in the West Midlands, England. For the personal data described in this policy, Boshworks is the "data controller" — the person who decides how and why it is used.
If you have any question about your data, or want to exercise any of the rights below, email us at boshworks@themonohub.com and we'll help.
We keep this deliberately small. Here's the whole picture:
We don't collect special-category data (like health or ethnicity) as part of the service, and we ask that you don't put such data into your workspace unless it's genuinely needed and lawful for you to hold.
We use a small number of trusted providers ("processors") to run the service. Each only handles the data needed for its job, under its own security and privacy commitments:
Some of these providers are based outside the UK. Where data is transferred abroad, it's protected by appropriate safeguards (such as UK adequacy decisions or the providers' standard data-protection clauses). We never sell, rent or trade your personal data, and we only share it with others where the law requires us to (for example, a valid request from an authority).
Your workspace may hold personal data about your own customers (for example, names and emails in a booking or enquiry list). That data belongs to you and your business. For it, you are the data controller and Boshworks acts as your "processor" — we only handle it to run the workspace for you, on your instructions.
We keep the data we hold secure with sensible, up-to-date measures: reputable providers, access limited to what's needed, and secure logins. Because your workspace lives on your own machine, keeping your own computer and accounts secure (strong passwords, updates, private logins) is an important part of the picture too, and that part is down to you.
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
To exercise any of these, email boshworks@themonohub.com. We'll respond within one month, and it's free unless a request is clearly excessive.
Our website sets no cookies at all — nothing is stored in your browser, which is why you don't see a cookie banner: there's nothing to consent to. We don't use advertising, profiling, analytics or tracking cookies of any kind.
Downloading Boshworks Studio doesn't change that — the download is a plain file transfer, and nothing is placed on your device until you choose to install the app. If we ever add anything that isn't strictly necessary to run the site, we'll ask for your consent first and update this policy.
We may update this policy as the service grows or the law changes. When we do, we'll change the "last updated" date at the top, and for significant changes we'll let customers know by email.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, please tell us first — we'd genuinely like the chance to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the UK regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Questions about anything in this policy, or want to exercise one of your rights? Email us and a real person will answer.
